Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Sexual discrimination

When I went and applied for a position as a real estate loan processor I was told by the man doing the hiring that I was qualified enough to fill the position but he was looking to hire a woman to fill it instead. He then went on to state that ''99.9% of all real estate loan processors are women and that it was easier for them to handle disgruntled clients because all they would do was cause the woman to break down and cry, thus ending the arguement.'' He alo said that if he was hiring a Loan Officer he would hire me for that position, which is higher than a processor. I feel as if I am a victim of sexual discrimination and wanted to know what, if anything, I could do about it. Please let me know if you have any answers. Thank you.

Re: Sexual discrimination

It is illegal to not hire you b/c of your gender. The question is, do you have any witnesses to this statement or any other proof? If so, what are your damages? Are you working now? At what rate? Call if want to discuss -805/641-6600.
