Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Short changed on hours
My husband's design job is only paying him for the time spent on the computer- it is automatically figured every time he logs onto a file. He may be in the office 8 hours, but only be paid for the 5 hours (or whatever) that he is on the computer. He was told that this is a full time job. Is this legal? What about break time, etc?

Re: Short changed on hours
If you husband is an employee, rather than an independent contractor, the employer should pay him for all hours worked, not just for hours he is on the computer. Please feel free to contact me for information on how to file a claim.

It sounds like he has been paid improperly. You can file with the labor commissioner in your area or consult an attorney. If you are in the LA metro area, feel free to call. 213 386 3860
