Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Slander, cause of two jobs financial hardship

I started working for a doctors office in 09/05 in 03/06 the doctors daughter came into to the workplace as a biller who was prviously a lawyer. She always picked on me and harassed me .Anyway, as time went on she would mostly pick on us when her parents were on vacation..back in June of 2007 she asked me to change positions i was in to move back to the front office where I had dont such a great job previously, I decided not to cause I prefer my job. She then informed me that if I stay in my position I would be given more work. I felt bullied and was upset. Then when the office manager came back from vacation I voiced my concern and informed her I was looking for another job and would give notice when I do. The next day she told me they will give me 4 weeks then I will not have a job. I then got my belongings and left that morning. Since then I applied for unemployment and was awarded it then they appealed it and I still won the appeal. Since then I started working for another doctor shortly after the appeal she was upset and went to my current employer and told them about the hearing and alot of untrue things about me. After her meeting with my current employer he fired me for no reason just based on what was told by her.

Based on your facts you may have a legal cause of action against the former employer for Defamation and or interference with a contractual relationship. However, you should consult an Attorney ASAP to provide further details to your statement and ensure that you are in compliance with the Statute of Limitations.
