Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I am a software developer. The company I worked for was just purchased by another company. My new employer wants me to sign an inventions agreement which states that I assign all rights to any inventions I create while employed, even if it is outside of work time, has nothing to do with my employers business and I do not use any business resources. My employer is based in Ohio and I live in California. If I sign this, can they really enforce it? If I don't, they will likely not hire me.
