Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I am currently on SSI and would like to go back to work. I have a couple of judgments on my house which is protected by a Homestead. My question is: If I go back to work can my wages be garnished to pay these bills? I do plan to start making payments as soon as I can find a job. I'm just not sure of the wage garnishment laws.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Bobbie Dodson

If there are outstanding judgments against you, the creditor has the right to attempt to collect on that judgment by garnishing your wages. If you anticipate returning to work, why not propose a payment plan you can live with, perhaps even asking them to compromise the principle and interest, rather than leaving it to a court to decide how much they can take out of your paycheck?
