Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Standing up for myself,''At Last''.

Intered into a years lease with a partner, we both signed it,and were ready to move forward with our lives. Suddenly my new partner tells me the he is going back home and that I have 2 wks to find a new place to live.I want to know, is there any way that I can hold him to the Lease, and make him pay his half of the rent and rental expences, for the length of the Lease period? I don''t care that he isn't living in the house, but I'll be Damed, if I will let him leave me high and dry''because he's changed his mind''.
