Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I was on state (CA) disability for 6 mos.

If I am fired or laid off, after my state disability checks stop will I be able to collect unemployment?

Thank you.

If you meet all of the other eligibility criteria, which includes being ready, willing and able to work, then yes, you could collect unemployment benefits. If you are still unable to work, you will have to look at other options, such as applying for Social Security Disability benefits.

Is your disability work-related? Then your disability benefits will continue for one year from the date of disability. You can't collect unemployment at the same time. However, if there is a finding of a permanent disability then you are entitled to a settlement for your case. Feel free to call us at 213.388.7070 for a free consultation.
