Legal Question in Employment Law in California

In State of California: An employee has worker comp) work restrictions as ordered by her treating physician but she stated that she is willing to overturn the work restrictions in order to work in an area she like and do overtime. If the employee's condition worsen or she get injured, are there any legal liability for the employers? Can she sue the employer afterwards?

The injuries are still covered under worker's compensation meaning if the injuries got worst due to return to work, the same benefits applies and if she can't no longer work, then she needs to receive temporary disability benefits until she can go back to work.
