Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I was just suddenly let go from my position at work after 8 years of employment due to my Bosses not being able to "afford" me. Both of them are very successful in the entertainment industry so this comes as a surprise. They've offered me only one months pay to find more work. Now I'm frightened I will not have enough time and money to move out my apartment and find another job quick enough especially with the holidays. I'm of course terrified also that I won't make all my bill I'm lost at what I'm legally entitled to after 8 years of employment with this company/family.

That is very generous of them to offer you a month's pay. Unless you have a contract guaranteeing you will remain employed, they could have just sent you home with your last paycheck and left you to file for unemployment.
