Legal Question in Employment Law in California

sushi cook feels ripped off

I am a sushi cook in a large hotel in San Francisco. I

make tips at the sushi bar but the management will not

let me have them. The servers get to keep 100% of the

tips that I earn.

Strongly voice you concerns with the management, take them to the local labor board and consider finding another job. Good sushi chefs are hard to find.

Thank you for your inquiry-Martin

Not sure what your question is but if you are asking whether you are entitled to the tips you earn, you are. But it is common practice to share tips with the people you work with in the restaurant industry, i.e. food servers, bus boys, even bartenders, etc. You will need to clarify the arrangement and try to work out a fair tip sharing deal with your co-employees.
