Tape recording office conversations

Is it legal to tape record office conversations (person to person NOT telephone) in the state of California?

It is a crime if the person who is being recorded has an expectation of privacy. That means if you are engaged in a one on one conversation, it is a crime. If there are others present or if you are in a public place so that third parties could overhear the conversation it is not illegal.
