Legal Question in Employment Law in California

The temp agency sent me on a job interview. The company said they would not hire me because they don't work with temp agencies. Now I see the same job advertised on Craigslist. Can I apply? (The temp agency says "no" - there might be "legal ramifications".) They have never found me a job. I do not pay them a fee. Would there really be "legal ramifications" if I got this job as a direct hire?

It sounds as though there is some contract dispute between the Temp agency and the employer. That shouldn't concern you. If the employer wants to hire you directly, they can hire you. If they don't want to hire you, they don't have to. There is nothing to stop you from trying.
