Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Terminated - Do I qualify for Unemployment Insurance

My employer terminated me after they found out I had printed a power point document that read: ''Top Reasons to hire me:'' Does this give emploer enough cause to fire me? Does this mean that I will not be elgible for UI Insurance? I made an effort to keep my job.

California is an "at will" State. Meaning that your employer does not have to let you go for cause. As long as you are an at will employee and you are not fired for an illegal reason (i.e. race, sex, national origin, etc. . . ) they can terminate you with or without cause, unless you have an employment contract that requires cause. Other factors such as union membership may also effect your case. The statement above is a very general response that may not relate to every situation.
