Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Termination: Change of status form legal requirement?

I was terminated from my position

and subsequently asked to sign a

Change of Status form. When I

refused, I was told that it was a

''legal requirement''; however, I've

found no evidence that this is true.

I've asked the HR director to give me

the exact CA labor code.

Re: Termination: Change of status form legal requirement?

You are correct in standing your ground. I am unaware of any such legal requirement and it be some sort of form to release any claims you might have against your former employer. I would demand a further explanation and have the form reviewed by a local attorney before agreeing to sign anything.
