Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Termination for Insubordination as a non-employee

In 1999 I was terminated for insubordination as a non-employee agent of a major insurance company. Is it legal to terminate a non-employee for what the company said was ''insubordination''?

Thank you

Yes, unless it was a breach of your contract with them, in which case, they may have to pay you damages for losses under the contract, but don't have to keep utilizing your services. Independent contractors have less protection than employees, not more.
