Termination notice

My company is being sold to another company. We have in excess of 300 employees that will potentially be terminated as a result.

Is there any law which requires a transition period or ''notice'' of termination?

Someone mentioned the Warren Act. Does such a thing exist?

If so what is it?

how can I find info regarding this situation?

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Act (WARN), requires that employers provide 60 days notice to employees, their unions and State and local goverments when a plant closing or mass lay off takes place. If the employer provides the notice it has complied with the law. There may be other company policy or individual and union contract provisions that may provide other rights to employees such as severence pay or placement at other facilities, but these are specific to your company.
