Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Termination

I am a partner in a company. The major shareholder and I agreed that it would be better for me to work outside the company and not as an employee.

We were in the negotiation process of separating and he (the majority partner) sent an e-mail to everyone that I been in contact with, even clients that I brought in to the company masquerading as me telling them that I was no longer with the company and to contact him and his assistant for support. I feel like it's identity theft. Were there laws that were violated and what would the liability be for him?

Re: Termination

OK, this may be a sensitive situation. You need to contact an attorney who understands your role in this business and can understand legally what your rights are. Your business relationships have value. As partner, you may have rights you are unaware of and the major shareholder is unaware of. Then, a course of action and options can be derived. You may email me now if you want my assistance.

Best,
