Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Over time/ time and a half

My boss follows the workers' comp. and property lein laws, but he does not pay his staff time and a half for overtime, simply because it is "...too much work to tell the accountant. Salary is easier". I have worked for more than 40 hours a week at times. I was informed that it is the California law that anyone who works over 40 hours a week is credited overtime pay/ time and a half. That is it a must! Where can I find this particular law? Is there a website? or a book? Something i can print out? Simply talking about it with him is pointless. I just want to be paid fairly for my services rendred and do not want to be underestimated because of my age. Thank you very much!

Re: Over time/ time and a half

Your employer is required to have an IWC Order posted in a place where all employees can read it. This order informs all of the right to time and one half for overtime. You may also contact the nearest office of the California Labor Commissioner.
