Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Over time over 8hr per day

Can your manager ask you to leave for a few hours or go home and then come back to work ( i live about 1 hour away)it would increase to a 4 hour commute that day)in order to train for a few OT hours and then not pay you for it or request you take comp time for it.Ex; I worked 11 hours had to stay to train dispatchers on different time zone 2hours , I live 50 mins from work. when asked if I was to get paid for this OT my manager said come in late and leave early. that being difficult due to distance he said go home then come back. It ended up i had to stay at work to complete the traiinng on line it took 2 hours. I came in 1/12 hour later then normal and still had 11 hours. i am due 3 OT hours and he denied my time card.i worked 40 hour to not go over. in the past I was ytold I had OT approved for training in these different time zones and that I was authorized OT. It now seems all the rules are changing. I stayed under 40 and yet worked over 8 that day to accomodate business that Iwas told to preform.

It sounds like you may have a claim for overtime, but I would need more information before making that determination.
