Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Travel time

My company requires that I drive or fly to clients. Sometimes this means travel time of four to eight hours in a day, or up to sixteen hours in a week (coast to coast). Does the company have to pay me for travel time? I am an "exempt" employee - would it be different if I were hourly?

Re: Travel time

There is insufficient information to determine your exempt/non-exempt status. However, if you are an "exempt" employee you are not entitled to additional compensation for the travel, only reimbursement for costs you incur on behalf of your employer in the course of your travel.
