Each party is entitled to counsel. If you choose not to have counsel you will not be provided any special consideration.

Both sides are equally entitled to bring legal counsel with them. Attorneys being present are not a guarantee of victory but it can be an advantage if a party gets nervous, or has difficulty articulating their position. The judge must rule on the evidence presented and the applicable law, regardless of who is there. The written decision will explain the basis for the decision and information about an appeal if you lose the hearing. Just be aware that appeals must be filed within 20 days of the notice.
