Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Unfair punishment

My boss dose not like me .One day i called late for emergency leave, he considered that i no-showed for work and he suspended me for a week while other employees did bigger mistakes but they were not suspended or punished. However , due the company was short of man power by that time , he first ignored it and considered that i just took emergency leave on that day as i claimed in my time card and stated on my pay check .About one month later when there was sufficient man-power then he turned back to the problem and decided to suspend me for noshow to work on that day.Is that right ?
