Can my union stop my pension checks because I am working in the same industry, but know in a non union position. I received a letter requiring my notarized signature that I am not working and giving permission to check social security for wages, and if so they can stop payments. How can the union stop my payments for working in the same industry but in a non union position

If the pension plan terms say you don't get to collect your pension while working in the same industry, you can't collect your pension while working in the same industry. Unless the plan terms limit the restriction to union jobs in the same industry, why would you think that limitation would apply? Same industry means same industry, not same industry in a union job.
