unlawful layoff?

I was recently laid off from my job. Two weeks before it happened, I was out a week for jury duty. Then I worked a regular week. The next week, I had planned to take 3 days off because my father was sick. He died two days after my arrival. My job called and laid me off the day after he died, telling me not to bother to come back. Do I have a case?
