Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Vacation time not being honored during a forced shutdown question

My employer announced yesterday (Dec 12) that they will be shutting down dec 22 through jan 2. I immediately put in a request to use my saved-up vacation time during the shutdown period. My

employer has denied my request and will not pay me during the shutdown even though I have more than enough vacation time accrued from the past year. They are simply passing it off by saying the will let me ''carry over the accrued unused vacation time into yr 2002''.

Is there a labor law that applies to my situation? Is there anything I can do to get my employer to honor my vacation time during the shutdown they sprung on us at the very last minute?
