Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Vacation time and leaving job
I was told that if I leave my job mid-year, but have used all of my vacation time allotted for the year, my company cannot dock my pay for the "extra" vacation time I took. Is this correct, or can they deduct the extra time from my last paycheck?
I also purchase one week of vacation a year. Is there a difference in this respect b/t regular vacation time and that which is purchased (via pre-tax deductions from my paycheck each period)? Thanks for your time.

Re: Vacation time and leaving job
A California employer may not simply dock an employee's pay for an employee's debt to the employer unless the employee authorizes the dock in writing.
An employee's vacation accrual is subject to the employer's vacation policy.
