Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Vacation Time

I am leaving my place of employment as of today (2/14/02). I work for a national corporation. I currently have 32 hours of Vacation time left for this year. My company is refusing to pay me for this on the grounds that vacation time is accrued per month. The employee handbook also states that it is credited on January 1st. What can I do to recieve my compensation?
