Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Wage & benefit discrimination

My employer is a 501(c3) organizaiton. Only 3 part time employees, including myself. My boss is the only one who has paid health benefits. Also, recently hired person whose job is considered to be equal with mine is paid $ 6.00 more per hour. Reason given was that she has a MFT license, which only applies to 20 % of her job description. I asked for equal compensation and was denied. Do I have a discrimination case. I am leaving soon and am using these reasons as leaving my employment.

Re: Wage & benefit discrimination

In CA, you don't need a reason to leave your employment (or to be fired for that matter).

Sure, there's discrimination, but it's not illegal. They are using the MFT as justification for the other person's higher rate of pay.

Re: Wage & benefit discrimination

Another reason you are without a remedy is because there are not enough employees for this employer to be covered under state (5 or more employees) or federal (15 or more) discrimination laws.
