Legal Question in Employment Law in California

warrant or warren act

what is the premise of the ''warrant'' or ''warren'' act in California? I believe it has something to do with a wide sweeping layoff within a company that impacts 50 people or more which would then require a 60 day notice for the layoff action. Is this correct?

Re: warrant or warren act

The WARN act protects employees by requiring employers to give 60 day advance notice of a plant closing or mass layoff.

The "WARN" act applies to an employer with 75 or more full or part time employees who have been employed for at least 6 of the 12 months preceding the date of the required notice. Labor Code sections 1400 (a) and (h).

There are other exceptions to the above, not discussed here.
