Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Can my wife work without a work permit?

My wife of 3 months started her new job a few days ago. Problem is, we haven't submitted her INS permanent status/employment paperwork yet (I-765,I-130, etc.). She has a social security number and will be paying tax; therefore, her employer told her it shouldn't be a problem. He did, however, suggest us to seek legal advice. Can anyone shed some light? Thanks. NOTE: I plan to submit all her paperwork in the next few days.

No she can not. She will not get her work permit till the I-485 IS FILED.
