Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I'm wondering if it is worth it for me to sue. Under an independent contractor agreement I am owed around $1600 in invoices. Will legal bills make it not worth it. Here is the scenario:
I own a small glass repair business. I did some contract work for Quick Fixx Network (QuickFixxNetwork.com) in April and May. We bill insurance networks to cover windshield glass repairs. I bill the network, the network bills the individual ins company, who then pays the network, who then pays me. With Quick Fixx Network, they were an added middle man between myself and the network... and were paid by the network, then were supposed to pay me. They owe me about $1600 in back payments. This is for work I'VE done under the independent contractor agreement. They say they had issues with an online billing service they were using that created problems with their accounting and they are resolving it one job/repair/payment at a time. This began in July/August. I haven't received any payments since 9/3. Again, this is for work done in April/May. The owner will not return my calls. I've received one or two emails simply stating that they are working on it and it will take time. Again, I've received maybe $400 of the $2000 owed in 3 months of them "working on it".
What are my options.
Thank you.
