Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I currently work at Aldos Brea and was told since hire that I was able to go to different Aldos stores and purchase items full price and was able to get my 50% employee discount at my store. After buying two pairs of shoes I was denied my 50% off due to the fact that my old manager was only making an exception. I was never aware this was only "exceptions" i was told I was able to do this. I explained this to an assistant manager names Luis and he said i was not able to and i should not even bother because my new Senior Manager will not be able to do it and that i was pretty much out of luck. This is not acceptable.

Well it may not be acceptable, but it also is not illegal.
