Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I work for a auto body shop in California, everything was running smoothly, until they brought in a new production manager, i have a little over a year doing what i do, not like the rest of the guys that have years and years of experience. Just recently i got a write up for (carelessness) losing parts on a parts rack. And now they have been giving me a lot of pressure and feel really stressed out now. They never had a issue with me in anyway and now it seems like they are dissecting my work, they say im too slow, and they are too many mistakes in my work, and it seems like everything is my fault, when it really isn't. Today my supervisor told me if i get fired, its not his fault and that he has nothing to do with it, me getting fired never even cross my mind, and with the economy its hard to find work in my line of employment. I have little kids to feed. and my savings wont last long. Can i collect if i get fired for being slow? keep in mind i only have 1 write up and that was for carelessness, will that deny my benefits?

It should not keep you from getting benefits. But that doesn't mean they won't deny benefits to you. You have to know the law and what your rights are. If you call me at 805-886-4515, I'll give you some pointers (no charge) on what to say when you have your initial phone interview with the unemployment office. If I don't answer leave a message with your name and phone number and I'll call you back.
