Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I work for a department within my company full time and get 8 hours on the clock everyday. Can I work at another deparement within that same company part time with out having to get over time?

Assuming you are an hourly (non-exempt) employee, overtime cannot be waived. Employers in California must pay overtime premiums to hourly employees who work more than 8 hours a day or 40 hours a week.
