Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Work embarassment

I work for a small firm where I recently confided in my boss that I was having what I believe to be a very private and embarassing stress related health issue. My boss has repeatedly revealed that I have this problem with co-workers and upper level management in a very joking/mocking manner that leaves me feeling completely humiliated. I have specifically asked her not to do it but yet she continues to make remarks.

What can I do about this?

Re: Work embarassment

You might talk to your boss in private along with his supervisor and tell them how much your boss' comments to your colleagues and others have hurt you, since the matter was private. By having done so, he has invaded your privacy which is compensible through a lawsuit. However, if it's an embarassing private matter, it may not be something you wish to further air publicly. If the stress is work-related, you might want to talk to a worker's compensation attorney. Certainly, the stress from what your boss did is work-related. Good luck to you.
