Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I work at grocery store and th female managers make it difficult to work there, they're always complaining that something isn't done right, blame me for someone else lack of work, they also like to make up new rules, like i didn't know I can't put deodorant on by my locker. They make the females put thier hair up even when in the rule book it says to just have it out of your face they complain to get us introuble but the next day wear thier hair the exact same way as I did when I got talked to, the store director isn't very nice she talks to the female workers like we're shit and the males like she can do anything for them , I contacted corporate to make complaints and all they did was turn the tables making me look like I'm being a horrible employee when the worst thing on my record that I actually done was call in sick and didn't have a doctors note because I have insurance and the rest was over exsdurated so now I'm being given a "second chance" I feel like I'm being harassed , is there anything I can do????

From my understanding, it seems you may have a claim for discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliation based on gender, even though you are the same gender as your manager. An employer, including any supervisor, must treat all employees the same, regardless of their gender. However, as I read your post, it appears your female manager treats female employees differently than male employees, yelling at the women and disciplining them for conduct the males can get away with. If that is correct, you would need to speak with a California employment law attorney. Feel free to give my office a call at (213) 536-4236 or email us at [email protected].
