If you are not an employee, you are compensated according to the terms of your independent contractor contract. However, if the company requires you to attend meetings and exerts other means of control over how you are to perform your job, it runs the risk of misclassifying you as independent and may be subject to labor law and tax violations, if it is determined you should really be treated as an employee.
If you believe this company is treating you as an employee, but not paying you accordingly, consult with an experienced employment law attorney in your area, for an evaluation of your legal status.
