Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I work at a restraunt where the employer REQUIRES the wait staff to tip the HEAD CHEF 20% of our tips. Is this legal?

No, he is making you share tips with one single employee so it would seem illegal. Ask the owner what legal basis is there for him to make the demand. Try to band together in asking the question as he can not threaten to fire all of you.
