Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I worked for a cellphone sales company and was paid a commission. When the employer terminated me my final commission check was held for possible chargebacks as I know is allowed. First however they did not send me the check on time. I received it over 2 weeks late due to me finally reaching out to them to find out where it was. Either they forgot and have horrible book keeping or they hoped I forgot. I requested the check and any chargebacks that were counted against it so I could verify the chargebacks. When I finally received the check it was just the check and no proof of any chargebacks. Are they required to prove the chargebacks as they cut over $200 from the check that was due to me.

Contact the labor board. You may be able to recover the 200 plus additional amounts. That usually takes several months plus one meeting and maybe a later hearing. If you are entitled to anything, the Labor Board will help you get it eventually.
