Legal Question in Employment Law in California

i am working as a hygientist and my employer is telling me I have to show production of x number of crowns and other related treatments per month. I cannot make people do a treatment plan. If I do not produce more patient treatment plans, my employer is telling me they will cut my hour.

While employers have the right to expect that its employees perform productively, you are right to be concerned that having a quota places undue pressure on you to sell services to patients who do not need it. You may wish to contact the state dental board and ask them what their position on such practices is. You should not be required to do something the state considers illegal. If the state does not permit this kind of practice, you have the right to refuse to do it and if you are retaliated against for refusing to commit an illegal act, you would have the basis for legal action against the employer.
