Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Written statements from juveniles

What is the law, if any, regarding obtaining written statements from juveniles. This relates to the priviate sector, i.e. retail business and the apprehension for theft or internal theft issues?

These statement(s) are not necessarily used for prosecution but may be used for Civil Demand.

Thank you,

Re: Written statements from juveniles

There is no law preventing a private party from asking another person for a voluntary statement and the statement could be used in either a civil or criminal case. The rules you are thinking of only apply when the government seeks to obtain a statement.
