Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Wrongful suspension

In the past 2 yrs of my employment of 8 yrs I have expericenced some personal problems realating to some absences or tardines. I have been disciplined for the actions and put on a 6mo. probation well I arrived at work sick and I was contagious running a fever with a swollen throat and asked to leave to go to the Dr. I was then advised Its your choice but if you leave you may suffer diciplanary actions I chose to leave my health was very poor. Can I be fired for choosing my health over my diceplined actions at work. I went to the Dr. that afternoon got on a antibiotic and had a Dr.s note to returne to work.
