Legal Question in Employment Law in California
wrongful termination
I was born w epilepsy which was outgrown at age 7. I also had a car accident in 1994 which left me with memory problems. I was fired on friday for not being competent and able to do many things at once. I told my employer at my interview I had memory problems. The labor board says I don't have to tell anyone this.My question how do I get a job and not get fired if I forget something or zone out due to my brain injury which is permanent. Also as a child I stopped breathing and another time needed CPR to survive this also destroyed some cells (w/o oxygen for several minutes). I can do my job I just need a chance. thanks

Re: wrongful termination
I'm not sure if you have a legal issue here or not. Certainly an employer can let you go if you are not able to perform the job. The Americans with disabilities act may provide some protection for you because it requires employers in certain cases to provide a reasonable accommodation for you. What constitutes a reasonable accommodation will very from case to case. I would suggest getting some vocational counseling in order to choose a career in which your disability would least likely be a problem.
