Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Wrongful Termination from Church
I amemployed as a musician for a church (W2 employee). My job there requires me to play the music 1 Sunday per month, and choir rehearsals weekly on Tuesday. I recently received a letter of dismissal because on the Sundays I don't play (work), I don't attend the Sunday religious services. That seems to be wrongful termination. Would appreciate your opinion.

Re: Wrongful Termination from Church
Sounds like religious discrimination, but churches are exempt from such laws. Find a church that enjoys your talent and appreciates you as a person. Just because you don't worship there doesn't mean you don't hold the values that the church would hope to instill in others, even if not by example.
