Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Wrongful Termination?

I was at a company for almost a year. I had always had a problem with my immediate supervisor. He always picked on me, only checked up on me, and was always writing me up for the most ridiculous things. Finally, when I couldn't take the harassment, I decided to stand up for myself and write a letter to Corporate Office. 3 days later, I was terminated. Was I just terminated for standing up for myself? I need to know if I can file a claim with the CA Dept. of Fair Employment and Housing, or is there no luck for me?

Re: Wrongful Termination?

I cant tell you why you were fired. Your employer has the answer to that question. However, you may wish to ask your employer for a written statement as to why you were let go. This should provide you with the answer you are looking for. The timing of your complaint does wreak of retaliation, but there may have been other things going on. You should consult an Employment law attorney on your matter.
