Legal Question in Employment Law in California

possible wrongful termination

My husband, an estimator for a landscape company, was recently told by his immediate boss that a new estimator was being recruited, but that it had nothing to do with my husband, and not to worry. Additionally, the boss commented that someone would probably be terminated because ''the person is not able to take the company where it needs to go.'' My husband has been a great employee, has had no disciplinary issues, has gotten two raises and has brought in a lot of business. The company has an at-will employment clause. If my husband is terminated do we have any recourse. Additionally, the company has a high turnover of employees in various positions. The company is known for not treating it's employees very well.

Re: possible wrongful termination

Why would your husband have any recourse if terminated? As you mentioned your husband is an at will employee, which means that he can be terminated any time for any reason as long as it is not an illegal reason. You have provided no facts to indicate that this would rise to the level of wrongful termination, if he were to be terminated.
