Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Wrongful Termination
After 5 months on the job I was "laid off" by my employer because sales were off for the last few months. This news was brought shortly after speaking to other employees who questioned me about unionization. An employee in that meeting was questioned by the company about what was said and a few days after I was "laid off". Records will show that other employees had been hired before, during and after my "lay off", regular and temp employees. Employees that were hired after me are still working there. I had an excellent review, better than most who still remain. In meetings I was told "no one would lose their jobs," but another time was told if the owner found out I talked about unions, I would be fired. I was the only black employee in a company of 150.

Re: Wrongful Termination
You may have a case for wrongful termination based upon your union discussion. Other possible causes of action exist as well.
