Legal Question in Employment Law in California
wrongful termination
I was a substitute school bus driver for the cajon valley school district and was terminated from my employement on 4/8/07 for no apparent reason. I was told that their was a conflict in interest between me and the management of the office. my work record was great with no blemmishes at all!! All of the permanent drivers are union and have some protection but i was told that seeing how i was a substitue driver they could terminate me with out any documentation. Is this true? Kinda sounds fishy to me. At no time during my employment was their any mention of a problem with my preformance. I requested a copy of my employment file and was told that i could come view it but could not get a copy?? Any adivse would be wonderful.

Re: wrongful termination
If you do not have the protection afforded to union members, you most likely would be regarded as an "at-will" employee, which means that an employer does not need cause to terminate your employment. You could legally be discharged at their will.
Also, employers do not have to provide your entire employment file. They only are required to provide you with copies of documents that you signed, pertaining to your employment. You do have the right to review your file, at their premises.
