Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Wrongfull termination
Dont know if this is the right category to place this question in.
I was recently terminated from my employer as of 10/23/05
According to them the reason was because it wasnt working out. When i filed for unemployment insurance according to the EDD represenative the reason was because I wasnt doing the company protocal which was backing up the database which was never in my job description. I was doing the database backup though but storing it on the hard drive of the computer and the manager of the office new this and never told me to back it up on disk until the computer crashed. After that then she told be to start backing it up on computer disk which i did. After that i was still employed doing there billing and collections. Latter I found out that the person I was training to do billing was one of there relatives. then thats when they let me go with out notice.
Is there anything legal i can do about this.

Re: Wrongfull termination
There are lots of things that you CAN do, but it is unclear from the facts presented to advise you of what you SHOULD do and it would be helpful to know what you WANT to do.
If you were denied unemployment benefits because of this allegations, then you SHOULD appeal. If you obtained unemployment benefits, then you don't NEED to do anything else.
If the employer is giving you a bad reference that is keeping you from getting another job, you might have a claim for defamation but I don't know what your damages are. The real question is how are the statements harming you now.
