Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

120 Eviction for Demolition

Hello, I live in one of 3 units in sherman oaks. the landlord sent a 120 notice of eviction to all units stating that he intends to demolish the property. There is no record with the city of his plans that i can find. the letter also had a $2000 check in it for relocation but no official papers from the city stating his intentions. Any advice how to proceed? Do we need a lawyer to secure our rights? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Re: 120 Eviction for Demolition

Appears that the landlord is giving ample notice and relocation costs. If you are month to month tenant, then nothing you can do. If you have a lease that extends past the 120 days, then, shouldn't be able to evict you. Really should consult a local lawyer to review the lease agreements to provide a clear answer. Good luck and thanks for inquiring.
